My Love of Photography

Born in New York City, I have now lived in 12 states, and travelled to 32 states total, as well as to 13 foreign countries. And I find inspiration wherever I am —in cities and small towns, villages and farms, wildflower fields and botanic gardens, in classrooms and churches, on mountaintops and beaches, off-the beaten-path-roads and wide open vistas, and oftentimes my most transcendent moments are when taking close-ups of flowers, bees and butterflies.

A Little More History

I took my first travel photo with a Brownie camera at age ten, when I went on a trip to California with my grandmother. Seven years later, at age seventeen, I enrolled at Rutgers University, and as a Studio Art and Communication major, I began a serious study of photography, although I mostly did black and white photos during college. At Rutgers, I earned my BA in Art, then went on to study Film and Screenwriting at the Columbia University Graduate School of the Arts.

Ever since then, I have gone through periods of taking thousands of shots per year, to focusing my creative energies on other pursuits. And in the past ten or so years, I have taken more photos than I would have ever imagined, made so much easier by the advent of digital photography. I use a Canon camera and several high-end lenses for some of my shots, but at this point, the vast majority of my photography is done with my iPhone 12 pro.

So, here is a sampling of a few of my favorites, from close-ups of lotus flowers and butterflies— to majestic mountains and ocean sunrises, ranging from gorgeous Maui, Hawaii, to the spectacular coast of Maine – as well as the vineyards of Oregon, coastal towns in California, Rhode Island, Connecticut, and Cape Cod, and, of course, my beloved Grand Canyon state of Arizona.
